I recently received a tin of life changing apple pie tea as a gift and I ran out of it way too quickly so of course here I am trying to duplicate it. If you’re sitting there thinking “Sarah, this isn’t really tea, it’s an herbal infusion!”, you would be right. Apparently ‘Real’ tea is made solely from the leaves of the plant Camellia Sinesis, also known as the tea plant. The leaves from the tea plant are processed in different ways to create the 4 ‘real’ teas; green, black, white, and oolong. Everything else that you’ve known your entire life to be tea is an herbal imposter! Well maybe this herbal tea is an imposter (It really didn’t stand a chance after I added those toasted coconut flakes) but it’s delicious so I don’t even care.
Making loose leaf herbal tea mixtures is incredibly easy, fun, and therapeutic. Especially if you’re drinking herbal tea while you’re making it. I would also like to point out that this and other variations would make a pretty rad handmade gift for anyone on your list, especially the men who are somehow always harder to make things for.
